The weather around the temple has been warming up. I suppose it's the turn of the new season... It looks like the right time for kids to be outside playing...
When I was younger, Father and I would take walks around the temple grounds. One time while we were walking he told me this story...
A young child and his grandmother were at the village festival. The child had little freckles all over his face. When they saw an artist painting on children's faces, they went to stand in the line. A little boy in front of him turned around and told him, "You can't have your face painted! You have too many freckles, there's no space left!" This upset the child very much, but his grandmother squatted down beside him and told him, "Don't worry about him. When I was young I always wanted freckles. They're so beautiful. Can you think of anything more beautiful than freckles?" The little boy thought for a moment and answered, "Wrinkles."

I met two nice young men recently... Sometimes I think I should write here more often, but then I start a new project and before I know it I'm all tied up...
It's been a little while since I've spoken to Philomel-san... I wonder how she is...
I suppose I could put a cute story my father once told me here...
Once, there was a little boy drawing a picture. His father asked him what he was drawing.
"I'm drawing the god Ragsiel-sama."
His father responded, perplexed, "But no one knows what Ragsiel-sama looks like."
"I know," the boy answered, "So I need to finish drawing this picture. Then everyone will know what he looks like."
((I figured the story could actually be about Kurt. ^o^ Seems like something he'd do as a kid.))

I wonder if Ryle-sama could be my Valentine two years in a row...

What does it mean when someone calls someone else a "dog", when in fact that person is a human and not a dog at all...? Is it a case of mistaken identity...?

(No, Kurt has no concept of 'time'.)

Once there was a father and a young boy.
The young boy asked his father what he had to do all day to earn money, and his father told him how hard and long he had to work. "I go into the shop every day, and I clean and serve customers for hours."
The boy thought about that for awhile, and then he asked, "Well, how much do you earn an hour?" And the father told him, "I earn 6 silver pieces an hour."
After thinking a little longer, the boy asked him, "May I have 3 silver pieces?"
This upset the father very much. "I just told you how very hard I have to work every day to earn money! What could you need that's so important?"
And the son looked at him meekly and answered, "I've only saved up 3 silver pieces, so I need 3 more to buy an hour of your time."

Do you rebuild the friendship...? Do you pretend you never met them...? Do you leave them alone...?

Once there was a cobbler. He was a perfectly normal cobbler, with a wife and kids. He went to work each day and would come home in the late evening.
One day when he was walking back from home it was quite late, and it was getting dark out. En route he went by an alleyway, and he heard a girl cry for help. A large man was attacking a young girl, but he couldn't see them well and they didn't notice him where he was. He stopped to wonder what he should do. If something happened to him, what would become of his family? He was afraid he would get hurt. He didn't really know who the girl was, so should he put his life at risk to help her? As he was wondering what he should do the girl's yelling got weaker and weaker.
Finally he decided to step in to help her. He fought with the man for awhile, but finally the thug ran off. He was a bit hurt and still scared.
And as he was standing there, still breathing roughly, the girl said, "...Daddy?"

Philomel-san, has there been something different about the past few days...?
|
|
| Dear Philomel-san |
[05 Oct 2007|08:37am] |
Greetings.
The heat of the summer months is wavering at last. The days are getting cooler and soon trickles of snow should be sprinkling over the mountain tops. I am sorry I haven't written for a long time. How have you been? Thankfully, all has been well here.
I've been emrboidering on some old clothing I found in the temple. I think it will make them look much better. Outside, there's a small rabbit that has taken a liking to the area around the temple. I see it occassionally as it's looking for food. I apologize for my unusual method of sending a letter, but I don't know of any other way to send letters across worlds.
Please send my regards to your co-workers. Now that winter is upon us, please keep yourself warm in the following months.
Sincerely, Kurt Howell
[Yes, this is written in Japanese formal style. While it never showed him writing a letter in-game, a lot of his polite mannerisms revolved around what was considered polite in Japan, so I suspect he would do the same with letter-writing. He's using a fairly standard structure for this letter.]

Kurt was waiting for Sasarai-san to come for a visit. He wasn't certain when he'd arrive, or how, but such details weren't important to him.
And, while waiting, he had decided to weed the garden. It wouldn't look like he was expecting someone at all, but if anyone were to understand the tedious tasks of daily life it would be another clergyman.
