Dear Philomel-san
Greetings.

The heat of the summer months is wavering at last. The days are getting cooler and soon trickles of snow should be sprinkling over the mountain tops.
I am sorry I haven't written for a long time. How have you been? Thankfully, all has been well here.

I've been emrboidering on some old clothing I found in the temple. I think it will make them look much better.
Outside, there's a small rabbit that has taken a liking to the area around the temple. I see it occassionally as it's looking for food.
I apologize for my unusual method of sending a letter, but I don't know of any other way to send letters across worlds.

Please send my regards to your co-workers. Now that winter is upon us, please keep yourself warm in the following months.

Sincerely,
Kurt Howell

[Yes, this is written in Japanese formal style. While it never showed him writing a letter in-game, a lot of his polite mannerisms revolved around what was considered polite in Japan, so I suspect he would do the same with letter-writing. He's using a fairly standard structure for this letter.]

I am very glad to hear from you--I feel we don't get to see each other enough, and it pains me. I miss you, brother.

I wish we could get some cool weather here; the proper order of the seasons is inverted down here on the far side of the world. Even were it cool, I fear it wouldn't snow. Marta says their winter is marked by rain, and cold wind off the ocean, but little else.

I've been very well myself, thank you. The tension that drove me to another world has largely passed, though I suspect they disapprove of the time I spend on the computer these days.

That sounds lovely--you've such a skill with the needle. I hope I can see them when they're done; I'm sure they will be much approved for your attention.

Oh, a rabbit? How darling! I've seen monkeys--actual monkeys!--for the first time. They were making quite a racket outside my bedroom window. Marta says they're infrequent visitors, and I think I may be glad for that.

I'm glad enough to hear from you that I do not mind the method at all! It works out well, I think.

I shall pass your regards on to Marta and Philip and Baodelio, and I'm sure they will be glad to get them.

I hope to hear from you again soon, dear.

Love,
Philomel

((Sounds like a logical extrapolation to me! Of course, here's Phil knowing nothing about formal letter writing of any kind, and just doing her best...and apparently abusing the word 'glad'. Hmm.))
